This greatly decreases your energy consumption.

The way you have your furniture placed is also important as you do not want to block any air vents. Having excellent air flow ensures that you only need a little bit of energy to make a huge difference. It is also important to make sure all of your doors and windows properly seal so that air is not escaping. You can also use timers and motion sensor lights to keep your light usage to a minimum; this is particularly effective with outdoor lighting.
