If you have a walk-in closet, that is longer than it is deep, you may want to think about installing sliding closet door. A sliding closet door lends sophistication and grace to any room where it is installed.
Walk in closets by their design require more space and are in general U shaped giving you more door options. In some cases walk in closet may not even have a door as part of their design. A standard interior door may be used as a walk in door. Classic mirror closet doors are frequently used to increase the functionality of the closet door.
A small room will benefit greatly from mirrored sliding closet door. Floor to top mirrors make a room seem twice as large as it really is. An added benefit to mirrored sliding closet door is you will be able to see yourself from every angle when you are dressing to go out.
An over-the-door system on which to hang your ties or shoes wouldn’t work to well on a sliding door, or a bifold door, for that matter. But depending on your needs, that is a minor matter, as you can purchase under-the-bed rolling racks for your shoes – which will get them off the floor of your closet and also out of sight.

Most people have trouble keeping their closets organized. Cluttered, stuffed, dusty and messy are words that most people will use to describe their closet when asked. I challenge you to get your closet organized, clean and manageable. The secret is to have a place for everything. You have to learn to make the most of useable space and categorize like items.
Try to create a balanced and visually appealing design. You’re investing your time and money….so be sure you like the finished product. Determine how much of each clothing storage “type” you need (eg. hanging, folded, drawers). Some professional organizers recommend doing a detailed inventory….but who has the time. Just make a general estimate of what you use now, and note any deficiencies. For example: you have 10 feet of hanging space, but could use another 2 feet.
This top shelf can be used for anything large and bulky that you don’t use every day. Suitcases, duffle bags, boxes, sheets, quilts or out-of-season items can all be stored up high. To eliminate the dust problem, wrap each thing in plastic wrap or in large plastic bags. This also makes labeling easy so that you don’t tear down the whole stack of blankets going for the one on the bottom that you want. If they do fall, they won’t get dirty or come unfolded.

My husband and I recently purchased a very run down, Victorian style house. It’s previous owners had altered the internal design of the house, several times over. The ceilings were brought down to a height of 8 feet as opposed to 12 feet and much of the hardwood in the floors and trim was badly beaten. It was clear that we had a lot of work to do and we were going to need to consider the use of Bifold closet doors for some of the rooms.
The bad thing about this type of door is that the immediate area within the swinging arc of the closet doors must be clear of any items for you to comfortably have full access to the closet space within.
I thought that Bifold closet doors would serve this purpose so long as we found someone to make them to individual specifications.I was able to find just the company and we have collaborated over the years on some interesting designs.
Bi-Fold. Same as also with the hinged variety, the bi-fold closet doors answers the problem of their hinged counterpart. They can be folded when opened so that it won’t take as much space necessary in your room.

You can save a lot if you purchase non-perishable things in bulk. However, if you buy items in large quantity, you have to properly store them. In this case, you need to have a good closet system. An excellent pantry closet design can make your kitchen chores easy and delightful. It can also save you from the work of guessing what you need to shop.
To achieve a practical design and a good closet system for your pantry, you need a little planning. Through this, you can choose the type of things that should be placed in the pantry. The closet for a food pantry, for example, should have drawers for sauce mixes and spices, and specialized rotating apparatus for canned goods. But if you need a closet for a combination pantry, the design should be a bit different.
Linen closets – To maximize the space for this type of closet design, or at least provide better, neater storage, there are some options. Compartmentalized shelves can make it much easier to keep wash clothes, pillow cases and other small items sorted. Large rubber tubs or other similar devices can work great at the bottom of a closet for holding blankets and other big items. Regular shelving tends to work best for towels and sheets.

As a young child, I learned that the upstairs’ closet could make quite the hiding place. When in one of my more adventurous states, I would open the closet door and close it behind me, almost all of the way.
If you are worried about sliding the doors too fast and making lots of noise, then worry not because there are sliding closet doors that will not slam when reaching the end of their travel. These doors come with silent rails and a damper system to slow the doors down at full travel.
Fortunately, I had great parents who took this all in stride and assured me that I would grow up “protected”. Laughter. As years passed, and I became a parent, I opted out of traditional doors for my home and used Sliding closet doors in their stead.
To add a bit more functionality to the doors, you can opt to mount mirrors on them. Now you can really save wall space when mounting mirrors on the sliding closet doors.

Closets have gone from an ignored portion of the house to a home selling point in the last few years. People are spending tens of thousands of dollars on their closet systems and even turning whole rooms into closets, which are really more like posh boutique dressing rooms.
But what are really custom closet organizers about? There are a lot of myths around them, and here you will find the real facts about closet organizers. Custom closet organizers will help you to get your clothes in order and will avoid you to spend hours picking your clothes.
Just adding a few conveniences will make your closet more usable. If you are starting with a standard hanging bar and high shelf, you may need to add some basics before you really deck it out. You can inexpensively add wooden shelves if you do it yourself. Building shelves is not all that hard. You will need precise measurements when you buy your wood. You may be able to get it cut at the hardware store when you purchase it, but you may have to have, rent or borrow a miter saw.
